New Stator

So I am cruising along on my 2001 FX 470e, on the road of course...all is well...then...cough, spit, pop, ...then nothing.....
I had noticed the headlight seemed to be dimming a little too much at low rpm, and the battery would not be charged very well, even after riding at speed for a while.......hmmmmm......I know they are powered by different sides of the stator, but it was still happening, and it looked suspicious.....
Well, sure enough, it died, albeit in a very convenient, safe location. and at a time that was not a disaster either.....so I removed the stator cover, and right away, it appeared the stator was not in good condition. Having read the posts about stators, on this forum, I immediately decided it was the stator. Finally found one in Canada, and the seller(ebay) bought it from sparks.....never used,as it was a spare, and he had sold his berg. I still ended up paying too much, but.....without it I had a 250 lb. piece of total junk.....
Anyway, new stator, and vvrrrooooommmmmmm !!!!!!! It is ready to go. But without the information on this forum, I would have not known the stators were 100% guaranteed to fail. I also found a coil, rectifier, etc. on ebay, that I do not need yet, but you never know.
Now if I can get my electric start working.......

Now I read this post about too much riding on pavement.......I do ride it mostly on pavement, as I have dirt bikes to ride....I do have knobby tires, and I do not ride it hard.....should I expect it to shatter the trans. at some point?
The bike was plated when I got it. It appears to have been ridden off road very little...it just is not scratched up at all.....?

X 2 on the forum for diagnosing stators. Used the info to figure out mine, then passed on said knowledge to my freind Mike, after putting in the Sparks stator he thought he had a new bike ! Plus you get some Taffy humor as well, it's as hard to figure out as Aussie humor

whats all this crap about fragging trans? never in the field of human conflict have we made up something out of nothing before?

I'm starting a new one today and by lunchtime it should be spreading throughout the world; japanese women have fannies that go horizontal!

you know its true! :D

What you may have picked up on is that it is better to use a rear wheel that has the cushdrive rubbers in it when riding on the road. This gives the transmission an easier time when compared to a solidly attached sprocket and wheel that is typically used on off road machines. But for general road riding you should not have a problem.

you can do better than that  , that was a given truth when i was in gradeschool (the one i had to walk to thru a foot of snow for 5 miles).

Ok, I guess I don't need to worry...I dont ride the bike hard anyway. Much easier to start the bike now, with the new stator....now I am looking to get the starter sprague fixed and use the button...then I will be happy.....When can we buy this new sprague gear fix thing Taffy?

husaberg box's are 100% bulletproof. however, there's a bloke over here does husaberg big bore-kits and has conspired to get through two this year. knowing the mechanic and knowing the rider I would have to say that Husdabergs 'box' reputation is still intact.

all we have to do now is question the mechanic and/or the rider....

I will confess, I installed the new stator, and did not spend a lot of time timing it...I installed it in the center of the slotted holes,as that was the way the old one was installed...I thought I would time it later...the thing started and runs better than ever, so I don't want to touch it now ! Should I spend the time to get it timed by the book or leave it alone? It runs so good now ! About 5 or 6 kicks and it is going. The freaking engine is still noisy, but it never misses a lick, and just runs and runs.....now my rear brake seems to have gone out..I have to pump the pedal to get any pressure...I will try bleeding it....maybe it just sat idle too long........
