new stator coil timing

hi there , ive just bought a new stator coil for my 2002 fe400 but the new1 doesent have the resin type stuff on it so i dont have a timing mark so how do i find out if the timing is correct if i dont have the line to line it up with ?

Hi Gaz,

Looks like you have bought one of Electrex's cheap and cheerful units, that's just it you can't.
I don't think they thought the timing thing to be that important.
They will tell you to fit it in the same position as the old unit if this helps, but still could be out by a few degrees.

What you need to do to get it spot on is get TDC, mark flywheel and case then you need a stobe that you can program in the degrees you will find the degrees in the Doc, put the degrees into the strobe and at full advance the two lines you have scribed should line up, if not just move the stator to suit.

Who did you buy the stator from?.

sounds complicated lol

i have bought one of Electrex's it was all i could afford at the time because just bought the bike and i broke down :roll: just my luck

ive just been tryin mooveing it a little bit at a time and tryin that , but wil get a strobe to do it right
