Hey just wondering if anybody knows if you are able to buy just a motor for the old bikes. I have a 2007 fe450 and ideally would like a 550 engine. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Where are you? As Taffy says it helps if you include it in your signature. There was a 550 engine for sale on ebay that didn't sell. Think it was located in Northern Ireland, UK. It was expensive mind.
Not sure how to make a signature but il explore that. Im in northern alberta, canada.
Here is an '04 650 motor on Australian eBay at the moment. The Oz dollar is so low at the moment it equates to about one US buck per CC. :cry: Might be worth the freight?
I've been considering parting out my 08 450. I havn't made the decision yet, but I do need to sell it to pay for the new one. Not really sure if it is worth tearing apart a perfectly functioning bike. I suppose if there was enough interest, I may take the plunge....

Heya Taff. About a year ago I got one of your Bristol based countrymen to forward a RGV wheel from the UK to here. He was inexpensive, very easy to deal with & I'd recommend him. You could also give Rohlig in Brisbane a try...we use the to ship form Europe to OZ and they have killer rates...If you neeed a hand to get a hold of the motor I'm in Brisbane, I think that's where the motor is..Could pick it up and sort a crate for it.
Except for next week, I'll be in Zurich and Manchester but I'm back in town next Sunday

Thanks for the info guys. Turns out that my motor is not as bad as i thought. The oil filter cover came off and blew all the oil out and all it wrecked was the cylinder sleeve and piston everything else looks good. Guess thats a testament to a tough bike.
