So how are these new bikes holding up? Anyne running them in corosive environments? Electronic probs? I remember one bike at the FR3 that didn't like the water. I am thinking about the salt water at home and the constant rain and the lack of a kick starter sort of thing.

I live overlooking the Puget Sound, but that is not the same as living right on the coast. I've not had problems with any of my bikes in this regard except that if I leave them uncovered under the carport I do get some corrosion. No problems with the FE570. I do hose the bike down whenever I return from a ride. I have never had any problems with water crossings or water getting into anything. But then I haven't tried a deep crossing yet. I have ridden in a downpour.

things to watch from the ktms with similar engine

camshaft bearings BC oil squirt not working properly and they are a large diam = high rolling speed

issues with oil pump and pressure relief spring, also camchain tensioner but thats pretty well known.

big end and rod failures, but they are putting berg rods in the kartooms to try something different apparently our ones are better... sounds odd.

oil scraper rings brocken

don't forget also issues in the 70 deg engine with headgasket lifting when pushed hard for extended periods.

if someone wants to loan me a slanty engine 570 for a month I tell you what breaks :D

I found a fair bit of dirty water in the plenum after riding thru a thunderstorm and muddy creeks, filter was saturated. There is a plug behind the headlight for the kill start/switch which plays up a bit when wet, sealed that bugger up and all his mates ( those open white ones ) My mates bike came from the factory with a split plug cap. My bike has pulled wires out from some of the above mentioned plugs due to erratic cable routing, some sheathed cables hold water. Plastics scuff up from boots/pants easily. The inners of my disc rotors and header have tarnished as well as most of the fasteners. The water here is brackish so I go mad with grease/antisieze/spray lube when I wash or service the beastie. Handlebar switches jam up. If you break mine bushy can you bomb it up a bit before you give it back
? :D

I can bomb out the boingers no probs but i think I'm gonna have to put in a 610 kit and tow it with the 700 to make it go a bit better ? :D

    make sure you use a long rope or we'll see how they last when being sandblasted

The Number Plate holders and Blinkers break off and get jammed in between the rear wheel and the swingarm. Feels like the motor has seized when it happens. My dealer did this sweet modification to the rear blinkers and number plate. The LED Blinkers look trick.
