I have just fitted the new improved MkII water pump kit from ORANGEBERG. The new kit has a larger bearing. The bearing in my MkI kit collapsed after many hours and coolant started to leak out the weep hole. I can't remember how many hours I did on the MkI kit before the bearing failed, but it was heaps.
I did a 2000km road ride to the Australian Moto GP ( go Casey ) with motards, big tank and comfort seat, and I noticed the coolant leaking on the return trip. Obviously the coolant is under pressure and leaked first. No dramas as we noticed the leak before loosing much coolant.
So new kit is in and I'm back into it. The new bigger bearing should give a much longer service life, or maybe won't need replacing at all !
