New member just picked up a 2000 FC501

Hello everyone,

I just found this web site and its awesome. Anyway, I just picked up a 2000 FC501 in very good shape (it has about 20 hrs). What are your opinion or knowledge of this bike? Any information would be great. I'm new to Husabergs, this is the first one I've owned. Love the smooth power and handling. Much better than the KX500 I was riding.
Also, there is a Husaberg dealer in the city I live in and he has a 2007 FE450 with low hrs (almost new) for $4900.. What are your though on the FE450 also?

Motoxotica ?? go see Dan & Ann they are the best. Fe450, enduro bike (the FC is motocross) not as abrupt as the FC, very linear in it's power delivery. Welcome to the Fam. Much more maint. than the KX 2 stroke, change oil often, filter every three oil changes, if it gets hard to start check your valve adjustment then the stator, Dan carries Sparks rewinds. Go to the "downloads" section get your manual there, check the owners doc. much info there.

Yes Motoxotica is who I do business with. Dan has my bike now, just doing some service (brakes, carb, valves). I had all kinds of trouble with my K5 2stroke and very happy to have it gone.
How many hrs before the next oil change? What does the Sparks rewinds do?

5 hrs between oil changes. You have any SEM stator it will go out on you. At first you'll start looking at the carb, thinking that you have a problem with the Dellorto. Maybe even drop $400.00 buying a flat slide carb, but alas it will be for naught. When the bike starts performing like carb jetting problem look in the owner's DOC under electrical it will give you ohm values to test the startor (I know this because I've done this for two bikes) When the stator is shot take it to Dan he will trade you out for the "Sparks" unit (he is a member here) and remanufactures them to better than stock, this comes from personal knowledge and ask anyone here they will confirm this. For West Coast guys Motoxotica, BOSS and Bikebarn are your best bets and all are members here (check the upper right side "donations") never been steered wrong by any of them. You must read Daniel san, or incur the wrath of Taffy, please and thank you will go far here ,& proximity to Dan's shop is a big plus !

Search my threads (arkley123) 501fe 2002 - no end of trouble starting for 18months - finally changed the stator- grinning from ear to ear. I'm short & light but sitting on the seat it starts 2 kicks.
regular oil changes / check everything still attached & if its running ok--------------leave it alone.

That's a nice bike you have there Daniel. I seen it at Motoxotica last weekend. I have a 2000 FE 501 with a CA plate. As for the '07 FE 440, My buddy bought it at a killer price. Now he has the complete set, 450, 550 and 650 all 2007's. Hope all is well with you.

Wanna buy a '00 503 VOR?

Great looking bike. I am very happy with my FE, just rode 81 miles in the mountains around Reno Sunday and still want to ride more (got lost twize sore *** and all). Looking forward to hearhow it works for you.

Dan at Motoxotica said it is a great running Berg, very low hrs. Really looking forward to doing some riding this spring and summer. I'm interested in your VOR. Do you have any pictures?

hey daniel,

I've been riding a 99 fc501 since 2002 and have had trouble from time to time starting
the left hand kicker big ****. i had the stator rebuilt and re jeted the carb ( made a big difference). the best advice i would say is just give the air filter on them older bergs a sniffit of filter oil... oh and i just jumped on a 09 fe450 and OH MY GOD ITS A GEM!!!!!!
 
Thanks for the information. This crazy rain in my area, my keep me off the trails this weekend. Anyway...That 09 FE450 from what I've read is a dream bike.
