Hi All,

I recently bought a 2000 FC501 and have spent this weekend playing around on a mountain trail and I am so thrilled with this bike.

I also own a 2005 KTM LC4 640 SM, nonetheless the torque is nothing alike.

My Berg was recently rebuilt and the previous owner installed piston and cylinder from a 525 EXC and a Dellorto carb.

I have a few questions, but I will spend my time searching for answers in the forum.

Thanks

HI and Welcome to the site!!!

That's a great looking bike!! And thanks too for using some diligence to find your answers by searching through the forums!!! That is greatly appreciated. We've had folks come through in the past with a problem, and once their problem is solved they are never heard from again.

Schwim, can we give this guy a gold star and an evening in the corner of excellence for using the search function before posting his questions?

Your welcome!

You have a great bike there! It was the pinnacle of that generation of Husaberg. All of the problems had been sorted out by that time, better clutch, pressure lubrication instead of the oil bath system.

One word of caution, those motors use oil, it's not bad, it's just the nature of the beast. Be sure and keep an eye on the oil level, use a high quality oil, and change your oil frequently. Also, keep an eye on the valve adjustment, they should be checked about every 15 to 20 hours.

If you every have a problem with the stator, or if you want to be ahead of the game, look up member Sparks as he does bullet proof re winds of the stock SEM stator ignition coil. He is not too far from you, he lives in Spain.

I am aware of the care these motors require, oil and oil filter change every 10 hours and valve adjustment every 15. It is not the same, but my KTM is kind of demanding, I change oil and oil filters every 2,500km and adjust the valves with every other oil change. I don't care about money when it comes to my bikes running smoothly. I also know that I need to cleanup the frame under the air filter as the carb fumes tend to build up there.

I plan to learn to change oil and adjust the valves myself (I have not been that brave to try this on the KTM), I will spend some time with the previous owner (he is a race driver and owns a motor shop) and hopefully I will be able to take care of my Berg on my own.

There are few things I have noticed after my first couple of rides, but I don't know yet if it is something to worry about. For example, oil is leaking from the gear pedal, but only when I push the bike and not much really.

Nonetheless, I am liking the fact that this bike demands care and attention, it helps me learn more about both my bikes, tech- and ride- wise

The stator is something I heard of first time when I was reading through the forum. And the spark arrestor is the second term that caught my eye!

Thanks again for your time
