Hi all, new member here. Just got my first ever bike and its a 09 fe450. My mod 2 exam on Thursday woo then good to hit the green lanes

Alex

welcome :)

Actually that's the perfect first bike I'd say! I'm a little eccentric in that respect but a light, agile, controllable, superbly-handling and braking, reasonably powerful bike with linear predictable power ... is THE GOODS.

Do take care to set up the suspension just right for you. Dirt bikes have long travel so suspension dynamics have a great effect on handling and feel - small adjustments to suspension can make everything click. Don't be afraid to experiment.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys, forum has been very useful (and helpful) so far.

Tourist, i have done a number of manufacturers enduro 'tryout' days in Wales, England which are generally run by all the ex UK champs. yam, ktm, kawasaki, honda etc. i found the 450's more versatile even though most recommended a 250 due to weight. I'm a big lad. 110kg 6ft1 and don't have an issue unless I'm trying to bench press the bike our of a ditch I've fallen in lol.

i was actually reading the suspension setup thread last night but don't understand some of the technical words. will have to make a post i think.
