Hey,

New fella here, just picked up my second husaberg, a brand spanker 2005 FE550, previous was a 1998 FC600. Was wondering if anyone could help by telling me what carby settings they run. I have run my 98 always slightly on the rich side, and have had no problems. Obviously having a 98 berg prior, running the del. carby, they are somewhat simple compared. Reside in Australia Sydney. Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Eamonn

Husabutt,

Could i please ask what settings you would reccomend for FE550 at approx 800-1100 feet above sea level.

Eames I don't have a 550 so I don't know and have not paid too much attention to the particular jets others are using in their 550's. Really the second best thing to do is post all your jet sizes and explain where in the RPM range the bike is not running properly. Short of starting with Dales kit (custom ground needle and complete accelerator pump disabling) that would be your best bet I think.

whilst it's nice to know that dale does a kit for husabergs let's not fall into the trap of offering it to every single rider. sometimes all they want is to change a jet for a big change to their steed. $5 is the total and not $100.

it's possible to get the jetting 90% spot -on.

but as eric says PLEASE give us your jetting figures COMPLETELY.

Taffy needs a Lineaweaver jetting kit for his water pipe as he is obviously running rich again and is quite loaded up

YEEEEHAAAA
You guys crack me up! I can always count on something to make me smile here.

I have an 05 550, I am at 900 feet the bike has over 500 miles on it and it starts warms up and runs fine in temps from 40 to 90 degrees F with no jetting changes.

More likely than not the "as received" carburetor state of tune was altered from that of OEM prior to your possession. (ie the dealer).

If you are a dealer and / or you are indeed running the OEM settings look for a severe intake and / or exhaust restriction. :D

Kind Regards,

uuhh right

Not quite certain what "uuhh right" suggests. :?

In any event You very well could be the exception which proves the rule regarding the OEM settings of Main jet #182, Metering rod DVR or DVT and Pilot fuel jet #38 or #40 being lean on the bottom and fat on top.

Take such for what it may be worth.

Dale

a 38PJ is rich... 40PJ is chucking it in with a bucket...

DVT-now there's a needle!

but someone PLEASE explain why the 182MJ?????

something isn't right there!

regards

Hi Taffy,
Regaridng pilot jets:
We are talking 41 equipped 550 not modified 39 on a 400. :D

The #182 main jet is intended to compensate for the incorrect taper of the DVR or DVT metering rod.

Dale

Guys,

Love the coments, I will over the coming week post the jetting specs please keep an eye out as all coments will be highly apreciated. Took the plug out yesterday after 1 hours riding and true to my thoughts the plug was really dry, not even a hint of blackness!!!

thanks all

Its been stated before that with the Kukosan ignition you probably will never get any color on the plug except for bone white 8O
Jet for rideability not plug color.

dale

i always have found the difference between the E and the D on the 400 to be indivisible to the the naked backside (KWIM  ) i can guess which the 550 prefers. cheers!

eames

coded talk for carb gurus sorry!

also, as husabutt has indicated, you can't get a plug colour with the kokusan ignition system. please don't go down that route.

go by feel and noise.

Taffy
