New bike and I'm psyched!

Hey friends, I've been a little quiet lately but just found a good reason to shout to the world a bit. I'm proud to say I bought a brand spank'in new 2005 FE550e from the good guys at Bike Barn in southern Oregon. Dave had the bike sitting pretty for me when I arrived Thursday morning. After going over details and talking Husaberg for a few minutes, we wheeled her outside and with a push of the button she awoke to a very crisp note! Dave and Kurt had a very sweet "out the door" price on this bike and I couldn't be happier with the way I was treated. I wish them the best with their new Husaberg business. Thanks guys!

The bike came setup with dualsport goodies such as factory mirror mounts with mirrors, turn signals with indicator, high/low beam indicator, brake light switches front and rear all of which apparently were added because it was a Euro specified bike which ended up being sent stateside.

I haven't had a chance to begin breaking it in as I've just been swamped with work deadlines. I have started her a few times and must say pulling the choke knob and giving her just one kick really brings on the grin. :D (Dang this bike has alot of compression though. I actually have to use the compression release to get her over the hump). She will start cold on the button but being a long-time Berg owner, I know the cold-start kick is the way to go.

Time to do some owner's manual reading on setting the sag, learning the computer functions etc. I'm still savoring that "new bike look" as I know all too well, once I go for a rip in the Tillamook Burn, she won't be looking quite the same ever again.

Maybe this will get me out of my shell!

Congrats Rick, Just got an E-mail from Bikebarn saying the 550 I was inquiring about sold yesterday. Thanks for doing your part to help me go for the 06. Get out & ride that thing and give us a ride report.

If you'll read Cheeseberger's thread about riding in Crested Butte, you'll see how to correctly align your priorities. Congrats on the new scoot!

Congrats Rick! You have earned not one, but two movie quotes:

Elwood: "Our Lady of Blessed Acceleration, don't fail us now."

Lois Einhorn: Ventura, when I get out of the bathroom, you'd better be gone!
Ace: Is it number one or two? I just want to know how much time I have.

Enjoy your ride, and please be sure to share some pics.

thanks,

I got one like just like it, I only have one thought......

YOUR GONNA LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!! :greenjumpers:

An 05 FE550?I wouldn't have bought that.Far too much power, far too easy to ride, far too much fun.Yeah,I would have bought something else :D Enjoy!

You will enjoy the bike. I have 6 hrs on my 06 fe550e and have no complaints, a very high grin factor with this bike !!!

Cool Beans Man!!!!

It must be killing you to have that bike sitting there, and all that work to do!!! Bet you get it done fast!!

You already have a one of a kind bike in Husaberg, but the Euro model is a real trend setter!!!

I think you will really appreciate the evolution of the bike from your 02. Just some nice touches like the captive swingarm axle so you only have to use one wrench, and the little rubber wazoo that you hook onto the kick stand to keep it in the up position while riding. Not to mentiont the mechanical upgrades that make it run smoother. You're really going to love the torque on the tight trails as well.

Hopefully I can make it by there on my way back from Idaho.

Enjoy,

"Sure, it's what you asked for. Well, no there's no "inlay", per se, but you have to allow for artistic license. Yes, I'm aware that my dowels are made from whittled pencils. No, I didn't turn the legs. I think my Shopsmith is on the fritz. I thought a drawer would detract from what I was trying to say. Look, I gotta go, I got some pressing business."

Congrats Rick !! when are you gonna hang out with us (sm 'rs)....mactrack and canby are comin up soon again....its ok it has knobbies but its a BERG !!!! ride safe !!!

Okay, enough with work! I gotta break this puppy in. Hope my client won't mind the 16p nails I installed as door pulls on her new china hutch cause I need to ride! (thanks for the idea Jason) :D By the way, nice quotes but I was really thinking you'd have something from Spicolli of Fast Times @ Ridgemont High. 8)

Well, I took the new steed for a nice 51 mile break-in ride yesterday and yes, I am impressed! I was a good boy though and don't think I ever took her over 1/3 throttle. The most noticable change from my 501 seems to be the ultra quick throttle response. Suspension is a little stiffer but I know there's some breaking in to be done in that area as well. I did change the oil before taking this first ride just for piece of mind. Boy oh boy does this 550 have some power? I cruised on some gravel forest roads and also took some pretty cool trails as well and although I kept the RPM's down, I noticed just how sharp and crisp the motor pulls. I'm gonna love this bike for sure! (You are so correct bobzilla).

Thanks for all the comments guys.

Bergdude, glad I could help you out on your decision. Did you sell your BlackBerg yet?

DaleEO, that would be cool to meet up on your way home from Idaho if the logistics can work. Maybe a ride in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest?

LeFrog, there are a few new pics in my gallery. Check em out! (nothing too exciting though) Logjump's gallery

Colby (cheeseburger), glad your finding the time to get so much awesome riding in. Maybe one day I'll make to Crested Butte. It'd be fun to ride again with you and to meet your Colorado compadres.

BrianSM, maybe I'll make it out to Canby to see you smooth tire guys rip it up around the track.

You look like a teenager on that photo in the sun.

That's the "new bike effect".

LOL

Congrats Rick! Looks like you are having a blast with your new steed. Man do I wish we had some of that kind of riding down here in the south... just rocks and sand here as you have experienced. I would love to get up there and ride some clay.... Take care buddy!

Regards,
