What's Shakin' everyone,

I'm from NH and this is my first Husaberg. So far it's been 100% great! I got a few questions which all fit into different areas/forums here so I'm just gonna try my luck posting it all here in the new owner section.

1. Exhaust. Akrapovic or FMF? Which is better? Dyno results/biggest gains are my point. Then there's the question of do u get just the rear can or get the can and the header? Then comes the question of which Powerbomb (Akra or FMF) provides better gains? Do I get full system of same brand of for example: the Akra header+FMF rear can/FMF Powerbomb+Akra rear can? Money isn't the issue. Just want to know what makes biggest gains or do either make no increase. I know it's been gone over but I haven't seen these questions asked+anyone with data to support claims. Personal experience is great too if anyone has any.

2. I'm new to fuel injection. What upgrades are beneficial? Vortex? JD Jetting Power Surge 6X? Any others I'm leaving out? Then there's the question I have about all these different maps/mapping?

3. Finally, what are other options (if any) that I've left out?

This bike is used/setup for trail riding/Enduro. I do drive on road at times too. Suspension is completely setup for me and I have a Scotts Stabilizer.
I like to thank in advance, everyone and I'm super pumped to have joined this site and to be a member/fan of BERG CLUB!

I picked up the FMF megabomb in titanium a few weeks ago for my FE450. I got it from some where on-line (don't remember where now), and I got it for quite a bit cheaper than MSRP and a lot less then what I've seen the Akro header go for.

The FMF header replaces both the header and the mid-pipe too, the Akro dows not. So to me it's a no brainer to go with the FMF, as the mid-pipe is the most restrictive part of the exhaust. Plus the megabomb just looks badass on these bikes, I'm not really sure what to think of the Akro header's design.

I didn't replace the muffler on my bike, and I won't unless I happen to find a really good deal on a used FMF 4.1 slip on. My bike came with the muffler that says KTM Krizman on the back. It's a straight through design that shouldn't be too restrictive, so I just removed the little screen on the endcap and called it a day.

Hope this helps, and enjoy that new berg!

Appreciate it man. Thanks. Any ideas on my other questions or no? No biggie either way. Also, if u. Happen to remember what site u got the tsick deal on the megabits let me know. Thanks again.

I've seen some positive reports on the JD Tuner ... and a piggyback unit from Bazzaz which looks nice (partial to that one myself for when I get the money to pay for it) ... then there's the official Husaberg/KTM User Setting Tool which seems to cost a bit but maybe it's worth it ... the Vortex does everything - and costs some money! - afaik it is the only way to get access to spark timing if you need it ... (right berglsmerg?)

As far as the fuel injection/mapping goes the easiest mod to do is the map switch. costs $35, plugs in behind the headlight, and comes with mild, stock, and wild settings. I've got one, but haven't tried it out yet. Some people say it makes a big difference, others say the opposite.

I know that there was a tuner available for these bikes, don't know if it still is. I do know that these bikes left the dealer with different maps installed on the ecu, and I've read of people getting their ecu's flashed with the competition map. I haven't however been able to figure out what bikes came with what maps.

It's my understanding that all the FS570 models sold in the U.S. came with a street legal map that hurt performance. My bike was not sold as street legal though, it did come with a street title, but didn't even have the lights hooked up. This leads me to believe that my bike is already running the competition map, but I don't know.

My bike starts easily cold or hot, choke or no choke. The FI has been nothing but spot on, and even with the exhaust mods it never backfires. Because of this I haven't felt the need to mess with it and the bike makes plenty of power for me.

Most of the mods to these bikes are to increase reliability. Not that these bikes are unreliable, but they can be finicky at times. Since your bike is a '10 model you'll want to check your fuel pump in the near future to see if it's one of the bad ones.

I'm still learning about this bike too, had mine since last fall. There isn't a ton of info on-line, but this site and advrider are good sources. Check out these threads.

I have a jdtuner on my fx450, I also have an fmf silencer but not the header/midpipe, they came on the bike so I haven't ridden it with the stock setup but the bike is very snappy. From what I'm told the fe muffler is quite restrictive and as with most 4 strokes will benefit from opening it up with an aftermarket muffler. You said your in seacoast NH, I am also, I have the stock fx450 muffler which is straight through and a lot less restrictive than the fe if you wanted to try it. I also have a map switch you can try.

New Member Ron from NH. 2011 450 FE

Hi there,

I bought the Berg new in 2011 and still get excited when I ride it. Such a bad-*** bike. Riden KTMs since 1980 but this bike was/is the pinnacle of performance and quality. Basically stock except for Scotts, Fastway guards, EE skid plate, and 70 deg sub-frame tank.

Which brings me to why I joined this Forum. I am looking for a 70 Deg Billet Fuel Pump Holder/Adapter Plate.

I have about 6K miles on the bike and the Pump Holder has a wear grove in it from a screw/cable clamp. I also had to replace the main fuel tanks because it started leaking where it had rubbed against the 70 deg aux tank.

I'll repost my need for a fuel pump holder on the main forum - thanks, Ron
