Just picked up a 2011 FE 570 S from a friend. It currently has 1390 miles on the clock, so just getting broken in still. I’m excited to start building it toward a light ADV bike for me. I’ll need it a bit lower than it is now as I have a short inseam. I will have to make the time soon to go through it to see what’s what and if there are any/many mods. Fuel pump has been sorted, exhaust wrapped, and the tank underside has been reflective taped. Larger pegs have been added too.

Neutral is hard to find right now and even with the clutch in, I can feel the bike tugging a bit. Clutch adjustment maybe?

Anyway, happy to be here and hope to use and add to the collective knowledge.

Congrats mate. Mine is the 2011 570 also. Brilliant bikes.

These bikes are extremely restricted in the airbox. Buy a 390/450 airbox. They are cheap. It improves the midrange immensely. Youll notice that the rad shrouds where they meet the seat have a raised ridge. Remove this ridge. If you have a staple gun, peal back the seat cover where it meets up with the rad shroud. Youll notice once the cover has been pulled back that there is a ridge. Remove that ridge and replace cover. Now youll have more air able to enter around the seat/shrouds. Straight through muffler or end cap. Get a fuel controller and add fuel. They need it badly. If you go with a Dobek style controller ie JD tuner, EJK, run a map switch in aggressive. The switch combined with the fuel, muffler and airbox makes for a very healthy 570. You have just done it a favour by allowing to perform as it was designed to do.

Forgot to mention, these bikes (and KTM) are hard to find neutral.

Hey thanks Alan! Cutting the seat and shrouds on my to do list. Also, I’m seeing that getting neutral requires a little finesse. I’m thinking I will develop it as I ride the Berg more and more.

Yep, all bikes have their twerks. This being typical KTM.

Anything else just ask mate.

Welcome to the family!!! I have had an FE390 for 3 years and love it. I use mine as an ADV (only 4 day trip so far and mostly back roads). Seat upgrade is a MUST!!! Sounds like you have most of the upgrades you need. Another MUST is a cush mechanism of some sort - the bikes really NEED a cush rear sprocket, etc. especially if you ride pavement much at all. RE: the clutch - every one I've seen does that. It help a little as you put more time on it and it is better once the oil is up to full operating temperature. RE: "neutral" THREE approaches 1. Simply kill the engine then put it in neutral; 2. Let then engine warm up before riding; 3. Let the bike roll forward (downhill, etc.) before going from neutral to first gear. (One bike shop literally dropped my bike when they pulled in the clutch and started it in gear!) Practice helps also! I think you'll love it - the worse the terrain the more you realize the potential of these 70 degree models. One dealership owner who owned one, told me that IF you use the clutch very little, then oil changes could be 1,000 miles or even a little more. -Ray in Colorado

When cold give the throttle a blip while clicking in gear.
