Hi folks,

i need your help. I have the chance to buy my second Husaberg.
It's an FE550 from 2004. The motor is broken down. It will not turn and there is water (i guess from the cooling system) in the oil. Has anyone an idea what could it be ?
I like to buy the bike and fix it.......but i need an clue what it could be to check if it make
sense to buy the bike and fix it.
Thanx for your answers.

There's just nowhere near enough info to take guesses at what it could be.
It could be not too bad but then again it could be REAL bad.
It does soound like the engine's seized and there's water in the oil though ! :p

That's all i know.
It talked to the seller vie telephone.
He told me that the bike was revised in 12/2008 by an Husaberg Dealer.
I guess it could not be soooo bad. Piston does not move. I guess it must be something in the upperside (head, waterpump, etc)
of the motor. The lower end (crankshaft, bearings, cylinder barrel, sealings) was revised in 12/2008.

Has it been taken apart at all and if not do you know how long since it stopped?
Most likely cause would have been a wp seal letting the coolant and oil mix and then running it hot and seizing.
This sort of thing in itself may not be too bad but leaving water in the oil for long periods may have started a whole host of other problems.
If it's not an absolute give-away then I'd be stayin well away.
But if you factor in the cost of a top and bottom rebuild and it's still worth the price then why not.

The guy told me that the motor stopped yesterday.
I guess it will be the waterpumps seals, too.
So the piston and the cylinder barrel will have a defect, too.
I will negotiate about the price. If the price is ok it's mine ;)
