hey guys,,,
I cant seem to find that 'Valve Adjusting Guide' that was in FAQ,,,,
i did print it off but cant find what i did with it,,,,
Can anyone re-post it for me?

When i adjust my valves now they seem to be noisy,,not to load but dont ever remember being able to hear them,,,should u be able to hear them?

Is 1/8th turn method from one complete flat side of the nut?

cheers

cheers,,,,

just remembered that i had downloaded that Hard Start Guide,,,,should be in there hey.

i hear ya

the 1/8 turn is the amount you turn the screw , turn the screw in fully and then back out the said amount .

easy huh

The stock valve train is noisy, even with the tappets properly adjusted, you will hear it. The only cure I have heard of is to use the Lineaweaver cams.

The 1/8th turn method applies to 2005 450's as well?

Watch out here, the 1/8 method is only for a valve clearance of 0,1 mm. According to my info the 05 has a different valve clearance for either the intake or the exaust.

my owner manual states,,,,,

intake valve clearance cold= .12mm
exhaust valve clearance cold= .12mm

does this sound right?

0.0047 inches

is this the same as 1/8 method?

I'm quoting Taffy on this one:

"if a full turn of the screw is 0.75mm and you want 0.12mm then it is fair to say that if you can suss out 1/6th-of-a-turn you will have your gap!

i suggest you think of two numbers around a clock face, so if the screw sits with the 'slot' at 12 o clock when tight you need to turn it back to 10 o clock etc etc. "

Yes, this was a topic going on some time ago.

Have fun!
