Hello all,
I am contemplating removing my top end to take a look around for wear and/or anything unusual. I have about 50hrs on the engine and I would like to check for any signs on wear before I have one of these, "Stuck out in the middle of no where" situations. Can anyone give me any advise on whether I am wasting my time, is this a good idea? I change my oil (Delo) after every ride, ~3hrs per ride, everything is stock on my '02 FC550 except I have the updated roller rockers and counter balancer/main bearings. I guess what I am wondering the most is what will I have to replace for sure? What should I replace? and most importantly, what am i looking for besides wearing bearings? What I am most uncertain about is the decomp mechanism and cam positioning upon reassembly. Will someone be so kind as to give me some simple step by step procedure (with pictures/drawings if possible) as to what I need to do to get through this as this is new to me and I would like to be as thorough as possible to avoid having problems after re-assembly? Rough estimates of parts costs would greatly help as I am limited on my budget right now...
Taffy- Do you have anything like this in the new sheet you are putting out?
As always....Thanks for your help everyone,
