Hi all! I need a new battery for my 2011 FE 570. Would this one be a good choice? Yuasa YUAM7227ZS YTZ7S

Around $90 and free shipping. Appreciate any advice and recommendations :)

I believe that's the stock battery, and Yuasa are a good brand of lead-acid batteries. I'd go with a LiFePO4 battery myself though. EarthX ETX12A for $169 is a safe bet: ETX12A EarthX lithium battery

It will be much lighter (you can feel the handling difference), start the bike better, and last longer. And need less maintenance charging.

EarthX use high-quality A123 cells, include a protection circuit, and come in a sealed waterproof case.

The DRZ guys on Thumpertalk seem to like Battery Tender. I haven't compared them directly. I believe they do include some form of protection circuit but as I haven't seen its functions specified I still trust EarthX better in that they'll last longer.

Much thanks tourist! I will definitely check out the EarthX. Do lithium batteries take a different type battery charger than the lead-acid batteries? Thanks!

In cold weather lithium batteries need to warmed up. Want I do is to bump the starter a few time that works every time but I do live in San Francisco so what do I know........

I replaced the stock Yuasa in mine with the Ballistic Performance (LiFePO4) battery I took out of my 640 ADV. Had the 640 for almost 4 years, never took the battery out, never charged it, have no idea how old it is. I was shocked and amazed at how light it is. It's been 100% reliable. Slid right in the Husaberg battery slot, saving 4 or 5 lbs..

I'm using an Anti Gravity. Two years and no problems

Kind of! Basically yes.

What you don't want for a LiFePO4 battery - as far as I know - are the highest voltage peaks of a lead-acid smart charger. Too high voltage can hurt LiFePO4 cells. Most all car/bike battery chargers will output that kind of pttern and can damage LiFePO4 batteries. (Incindentally, EarthX do have some overvoltage protection, but I'm fairly sure you'd never want to charge them with a lead-acid smart charger anyhow.)

In the charging system in the bike that doesn't happen as the voltages don't go that high, so it all works out there.

All in all it's worth it to have a dedicated LiFePO4 charger imo.

Although LiFePO4 essentially don't need maintenance charging like lead-acids do. That is to say they don't self-discharge like lead-acids do. Much much slower at least. However it can be a hassle to be chargerless so I'd always have one on hand.

I'm kinda interested in this thing: RDX1 AC/DC Battery Charger/Discharger | HITEC RCD USA

It'l basically charge any battery you might have around for whatever purpose.

Hope this helps and isn't too muddled :)

Not muddled at all and thank you so much! That Charger/Discharger looks really nice. I will be making a decision soon. :)
