About a year ago I decided I was going to sell my berg for bits as I'd got to what I thought was the end of the line with it. Overheating, headgasket, rebuild camchain snapped valves etc etc
It has taken a fair bit of time (not to mention money) but it is now almost back to better than ever. I now feel an attachment to this bike that I have not had with any of the other bikes I've owed. It still frustrates and excites in equal measure, today the kickstart fell off and the electric starts still doesn't work, not a good combination in the middle of nowhere!! but I know more about it than any bike I've owned and it's ridiculously simple to work on really. It's a single cylinder with carb and lock nut tappet adjustment. Persevere and it will become better than a family member. Admit it you don't want a japanese clone bike that you have no idea how to fix regardless if it never breaks. I had a great days riding on my 550 today and swapped rides with a 2009 KTM 250exc for a while and wanted mine back after a few minutes. Once a Berg man always a Berg man. (mainly because you can't ever sell it!!)
