Mystery Husaberg Engine?? (older 501)

So I was browsing around for Husaberg stuff and found this engine for sale.
The guy doesn't really know what it is other than a 6 speed 501 engine.

Thing is I have a 98 501 that needs a rebuild, but this seems like a possibly better option. He claims the engine is freshly rebuilt, but I can't help but notice a couple obvious things...

All the rough casting typically on these engines is smoothed over. The valve covers and clutch cover do not say Husaberg. WTF??

Is this some one-off race engine? He has part numbers listed. They are:

200018 502CC 1010403 220008 65432N1 220004

Can someone PLEASE possibly help me identify this engine, it's origins and any other info?

-96 or older since it don`t have any oilfilter.
Can be anything between 89-96

Doesn't 96 have an oil filter?

What is the threaded cap right behind the cylinder?

strange the way it is so polished, might make you wonder if they spent that much time on how it looks what they did to the inside, although, maybe they just wanted it to look cool too....... 1997 was the first year with the oil filter, this bike does kinda looks like it has one but cant tell that well, the right side right behind the cylinder has what looks like the filter cap? if two screws hold that cap in then yea i would say it has one, although the water pump cover looks like it is the older style? stator cover also appear one off and different than anything i have ever seen, and the stator wiring leaves the case on the opposite side then my 1997............ weird looking engine

Note that my '96 FE600e had an oil filter. There was a factory recall on the rocker arms and other top end components which were addressed by my dealer Bill Woolman.

Are you saying this is a Vertemati engine?

Would you think this engine would hold together well it maintained properly?

Vertemati is husaberg with some changes, I saw some with different covers and a right hand kick, I'm just saying maybe this has some vertemati covers ???

This are high maintenance engines, so they need to have an eye always on top of it.

Well I have a 98 FE501 e-start bike that I supermoto'd.
I need to rebuild my engine, but what are all of your opinions on making adapter brackets and mounting this engine in my bike?

I'm maintain meticulously, religious oil changes and tappet adjustments, etc.

I havent done it but would assume it should be some what simple? supposedly the frame is different in the area of the starter of the bike but i would assume it would be similar brakets and mount in a simliar place.....shouldnt be too hard? maybe?

that motor looks just like my 94 501fe..exept the ignition cover is plastic on mine. does it have a engine number on it?

It looks to be an early (maybe 91?) 501.
Anyways, long story short, it's in my bike now.
I drove down to ATL and picked it up last Friday, made adapter brackets and fit it in my '98 FE501E frame.
It appeared to be a fresh rebuild, somebody spent A LOT of time smoothing the casting out on the engine.
No oil pump, filter screen only.
Got it in the bike, hooked everything up, started second kick.
Got an hour of break in time on it, drained the oil, looks glittery and dark after one hour like I expected out of an early engine.
It was a fresh rebuild but rebuilt with the only stuff available at the time. (Aluminum cam gear, old style metal chain tensioner, etc)

If I were to change the oil say every 4 hours, and pay attention to it (like I do anyhow) how long do you think this engine will hold up?
Any tips on how to make it last for at least a little while?

i do 3-5 hour oil chanages. its all you can do,they seem to last a long while it manitained.........lets see some photos of the modifications/brakets you made to get it in there!!!!!
