my Muffler mount bushings may be reversed, please confirm

My new 06 FE450e has rear tire swipe black mark all along the inside of the muffler. I think a friend today discovered the problem. We noticed the left side plastic is off the muffler. Those two little insulated rubber mounts on the inside of the plastic should be near or rest on the muffler, but my forward one is way off like a 3/8" off the muffler face.

The muffler tab mounts that the muffler hangs from, they each have two different size bushings. On my bike the Thicker fatter bushing is on the rear mount and the thinner bushing up front. I think the factory guy made a mistake and mounted the bushings opposite of where they belong. If the thicker fat bushing goes up front that will push the muffler out away from my tire more.

would someone here go look at your bike and tell me if your bigger wider bushing is on the forward mount and the thinner one in back, like I think mine should be.

Thank you.

Mine has the thin one in front, thick one at the rear. Maybe the tabs are bent in some?

Thanks for checking it for me.

yeah Dan at MotoXotica says thick one in back too on the FE550e still at his shop. I'm gonna swap the bushings see if it helps. the stock tire has short knobs, when I put a real tire on there and it will hit that muffler not just swipe at it.

Yeah, I just put a big Teraflex on mine, haven't ridden it yet, it'll probably hit it.

I took the seat off and rear fender. I like that all in one rear fender and side panel thing, three bolts and its off. I stood behind and over the bike and pushed down with all I had, just cant make the tire touch the muffler. amazing that on the trails the tire ever does go up that high to graze the muffler. I'm not going to change the bushings. Yours has the thicker one in back, Dan's 06 fe 550e at MotoXotica has the fat bushing in back and so does mine. must be the right way. I'm just gonna ignore it and ride. funny my TE-510 is doing it now too.

Hey Bob.

If you haven't seen it yet www.husaberg.se is an almost bottomless pit of knowledge regarding this kind of questions. Just download the parts manual and you will find where the bushing are supposed to go.
You can also find the owners manual there.

Big congratulations to you on your new 'Berg by the way :D
