moto gp

I was unsure if Hayden could do it but he showed that he is the MAN,Great race for sure. What about Bayliss,Superbike worldchamp and GP winner all in the same season....that has be be a first....

Shame about Rossi. He was banging elbows with Nicky at the start and looked like it was going to be a great battle.

Well done Nicky he worked hard for this championship.

I should be happy that a Yank won, but, I'm really not that excited about it. I'm glad for Nicky, he has worked through a tough initiation, and a tough season to boot. What with riding the test bed for the 800 next year. My hat is off to him for perservering and coming out on top.

I am however a huge Rossi fan and I would be remiss if I did not say that I was hugely disappointed when he fell. He too had his share of bike woes, and his comeback to challenge for the championship in the second half of the season shows why his a a multi time world champion. As was stated by the team Prinicple of the Renault this year after their man Alonso won the title again; The true test is whether you can back up your first championship with another back to back is what really shows your teams dominance. I'll be waiting for the first Moto GP race next year to see if Nicky can pull off another one, or will Rossi, or someone else for that matter take next years title.

And how about that Troy Bayliss!!!! Dominant in this years World Super Bike, and DOMINANT in the final Moto GP of this year. I bet Ducati is wondering whether they should have let him go in the first place. My hat is also off to Troy, another of my favorite riders.

It's going to be a long wait till it kicks off again next year!!

It was an awesome 2006 MotoGP racing season.

Rossi is an awesome competitor but not untouchable as some might have thought.

Consistency is key to winning any racing crown and this year Hayden was the most consistent.

Looking forward to MotoGP 2007! What a great sporting spectacle.

Old Dirt Trackers don't die....They become WORLD CHAMPIONS!!!! 8O

Congratulations Nicky, couldn't have gone to a nicer (or harder working) guy!

What can you say,Nicky Hayden is the world Champion.he won it fair and square,he stuck to his plan of consistant strong finishes and he was successful. He is the champ,no one can ever take it away from him and he did it his way....it does not get any better than than that.....nsman

Pretty much sums it up.

That picture shows a lot!

Can you imagine what was going through his mind those last 4-5 laps when he pretty much knew he had it in the bag? After everything he has been through, that had to be tough.

On the other hand, I have always thought that Rossi was a real hard worker and one heck of a class act, and he did nothing but solidify that thought this weekend. That was a real classy move to come over to Hayden on the cool down lap and give him a genuine congradulatory embrace. I just feel sorry for the rest of the MotoGP crew next year, because I think a very re-motivated Rossi is going to put one of his old-school beat downs on the rest of the field.
