I bought a FS650 and didn't like the red wheels.Left hand side front wheel.jpg[/attachment:26suychn].
Please note in this photo that the spokes from the left hand side of the hub lace through holes to the right hand side of the rims centre line. In other words the spoke cross the centre of the hub.
I bought some black EXCEL rims and laced them correctly I believe for the pattern of the rim.Spoke pattern seems to be OK.JPG[/attachment:26suychn]
But what I didn't notice was that the spokes now do not cross the centre line so that the spokes from the left hand side of the hub attached through holes on the left hand side of the centre of the rim. What this far straighter spoke angle does is restrict the area for the calliper between the disc and the spokes. I have tried to space the disc out but as the disc must run down the centre line of the calliper which of course in a fixed position so all this really does is push the wheel across to the right of the bike so much that the tyre is no longer centred between the forks.with spokes tensioned wheel is too far to RHS of the bike (left in the pict.).jpg[/attachment:26suychn]
So I have some questions
1. If I get a larger disc and mount the calliper on machined spacers 15-20mm further out from the axle with longer mounting bolts would this be safe. Has anybody fitted oversized discs to an FS Berg ?
2. Is there a narrower calliper from Beringer/Husaberg /KTM.
3. Does anybody know if I can I have the rim re-machined so the spokes can be laced as with the red rims
4. Or do I just bite the bullet and get a suitable rim ?
Any suggestions would be appreciated, Regards Anthony4691
