Where ever we park the motorhome, USA
Installed a 48 pilot, raised needle one notch from stock, 192 main
Riding locally, 500 ft to 2500 ft ASL with 115 F temps, bike starts great and runs great.
Went up north for the weekend.
8500 ft ASL, 70 F temps.
Bike started normal. bottom end power was better than at home. So maybe at lower elevations, I will go up to a 50 pilot. Top end was very good. The only time the engine sounded a little rich, I lugged it in 4th gear up a hill that caught me by suprise on a very tight switch-back. I couldn't see the trail through the pines as the trail turned back on itself, I was going too fast then slammed on the brakes and turned 170 degrees, and lugged it up the incline. When I held the throttle wide open, the engine coughed alittle, so I rolled back to half throttle and it lugged right up the hill.
Next time we ride up there, I'll try a 188 main.
BTW, I ran 101 low lead aviation fuel for the first 44 miles ( started with 2/3 tank ). Then I switched 111 leaded race gas. Absolutely no performance difference. Even rode up the same hill sections to see and hear if there was any noticible perfomance differences. Nope, nada, none.
