Modify FS Shock for offroad?

I'm considering getting an FS650 and then convert it for offroad use (as there are more used FS than FE available). As far as I have understood the shock length is 21mm shorter on the FS, does anyone know how this is done and how it can be modified so that it gets the same as the FE? As for the fork it seems like there are only more spacers to increase preload so I assume it's fairly easy to modify.

i really can't see the point in that? there is an FE650 for sale on ebay in england right now if you care to bid for it? there are two a week over here.

the forks will have totally different internals i reckon.

regards

Taffy

Shock length difference is 11mm, fork length difference is 25mm. I believe spacers are used in both but I won't know until I pull mine down.

Alternative idea is to buy the FS and then buy FE forks (KTM will fit), shock (Husaberg only)and wheels (KTM will fit). That way you will have 2 in 1.

There is a point because there are ten times more FS available than FE's in sweden, at least when we talk 650's. Also, it seems like an FS is worth about 1000 EURO more than a FE, at least when looking at what people are asking for their bikes.

I would appreciate if you let me know the result if you pull your shock down

Separate wheels and suspension would be the best thing to do but unfortunately a bit too costly for me...

Mada,

you could probably recoup the value of some new forks and shock with selling your parts, at least the wheels & brakes - it seems that supermoto wheels that fit HBG / KTM dont last long on ebay in Aust, and fetch a good price.

just put the enduro wheels in and go,nevermind the shocks if you're not a pro rider...that's what i'd do.
main issue for me would be to get traction with the enduro tyres.
i could be a little rougher but it'll work too :)

Hi.
Go for a FE, specially in Sweden where the insurance on a supermoto is more than double and some companys refuse to insure them.
Suspension is so much diffr, hard like nothing else on the FS rear not to mention the length.
The fork is diffrent as well as the lower clamp for the brake, can not fit a 310mm rotor to the wheel and get clearence from the caliper.
There are fine bikes availeble, there is a reason why there is so many FS on the market right now.

It's my understanding that both FE & FS suspension are the same, just different valving and spacers.
