can someone remember what these two spires in moab were called?

we went past them when we did the monitor merrimac trail.
the little red & white dot is me
 
ha,ha. found it. they're called determination towers.
also found out that monitor & merrimac are the names given to two buttes in the area.
 
Monitor and Merrimac are named after two US Civil War "Iron Clad" gun ships. Low flat decks with gun turrets sticking up. Glad to see you are still fondly remebering Moab Fraser. The Honda boys around here are still talking about how much fun those Berg guys are
 
when you look at the shape of the buttes you can see why. knew the monitor was an iron clad, not so merrimac.

are you thinking about going to oz?
 
If my 8th grade history memory serves me the Monitor was Union and Merrimac was Confederate. Going to OZ is just a dream at this point, I suppose I should play the lottery in order to win . I would kill to be able to go and ride with those guys they seem so hard core. Could get my Australia notch in my surf belt too. Down Under surf & turf I like that idea. Maybe you should hit Colby up the Cheeseberger in OZ you'd have to make a movie of that !
