Missing 6th gear

Since my engine rebuild I am missing the 6th gear of my gearbox.
Is it mandatory to split my engine or is it possible my gearbox 'star' is wrong on the shift drum?

My gear sequence is correct 1-0-2-3-4-5, but no six (it ís a 6 speed gearbox)
Top speed is now ~140 km/h with 16-42

well you've got two chances haven't you!

usually, the problem is the selector star and if you have ridden the bike you've been a lucky boy! i wouldn't have thought the gears would have worked at all. i would suspect a neutral between nearly all the gears!

my advice is to turn the selector drum clockwise without the sprung roller wheel fitted and pressing in. keep going clockwise while turning the gearbox shafts by hand till you run out of gears. now. if you're lucky and you turn it back anti-clockwise a small amount you should have neutral. with neutral found = move the star around quick!
