Hi guys i finally fitted my new inlet manifold today and took the bike up and down the street. there seems to be plenty of power (no problem starting) but soon as the revs get past about half way bike starts farting and popping and missing.
I suspect my stator but would that not affect the power all the time and especially the starting I'm at a loss ill pull the carby off and clean it tomorrow any one have an idea

cheers doug

Hi 44014,

The reason it could be the stator is as the rev go up so should the voltage, as you open the throttle you also increase the air volume in turn this requires more voltage to fire, on a small throttle opening the voltage may be adiquare to run the engine OK.
There is one test you can do to test the ignition performance and that is remove the plug and plug cap, place the lead 10mm from the head away from the plug hole and on a normal kick it should jump this cap no problem and always be consistant if not then I suspect the stator has got shorted turns on the source output coils.
Measure the resistance across Black and Red shoud be around 3000 Ohms at 20 degrees C.

Regards

Sparks.

hey sparks i just took some readings from my stator and im a bit confused

Ign trigger voltage 2.5v
ign trigger resistance 172 ohm
but my primary ign resistance on my digital multimetre set to 200k (would not get a reading on lower settings is 1007k but it keeps going up the longer i leave it connected.
Either way im pretty sure i need a stator i read a post of your a while ago your brother lives in aus and is stocking them for you now..?
how much and where do i send myn to ..?

cheers doug
