Milk in the engine!

okay, i kinda gather if you have a milky oil thing going on, it's coolant running into the engine, which is bad.....bike won't start.....dead....Broken seal i assume????

Here is the problem though....a week ago i had the bike in for a valve check at the shop.....the oil was perfect before that, never had a milky oil issue, after i got the bike back, the oil is white......soooooo can i blame them, and refuse to pay for fixing, assuming that they screwed it up.....like i said, was perfect before going to them, when i got it back, coolant is seeping into the motor........and not a milky look to the oil, i changed the oil filling it with exactly 1lt of oil, and the oil screen is full over the window with white milk, when i tip it over, it is milky not only in apperance, but texture......waterey, not oily at all!!!!

CAN I TELL THEM TO FIX AND REFUSE TO PAY FOR IT?!?!?!?!!?!? and what is the problem, can you bugger it up when you check the valves?

Quick replies will be really appreciated, cause i'm pissed and i want to tear someones throat out!?!?!?!?

Thanks!

AAAAAAAARGH!!!!

If they've only done a valve adjustment and nothing else then IMHO it wouldn't be their fault. Probably not what you want to hear.
You didn't say what model you have. I've got an 03 but I think they're mostly the same.
For the oil to mix with coolant it can only go thru the water pump seal, head gasket or the O ring in the left side cover.
Did you get it hot or was coolant coming out the weep hole before you took it in for valves?
If the side cover hasn't been removed I'd be guessing the wp seal is the culprit.

it's a 2001 650e, how EFFEN Expensive will a new waterpump seal be!
before i took it in, there wasn't a single leak on the bike.......when i got it back,IT's was stuffed. But i've had problems with these F***S before.....when i got the bike, took it for a spin and the brake lever fell off, they took it, fixed the brake lever, but removed the manual decomp cable, i let it go.....now took the bike in to check the valves, got it back, ad my oil is milky AND!!!!!!!! my headlight isn't working.....sooooo really, they suck and i will not let them off the hook, they will fix it!!!!!

IMHO these guys at the shop are absolute dilettantes 8O
They didn't fix anything you asked for. Instead they screwed it up.

I personaly woulden't allow them to touch (or even look at) the bike again!
Possibly they removed the side cover... But why???
Blissfully ignorant!

Try to get your money back and start to maintain the Bike on your own.
Or find a professional mechanic.

Otherwise I'm affraid those tinkerer will wreck your bike...

LOVE THE WORDS MADDEL!!!! , problem is, they are the only shop in the whole of south africa that do KTM and HUSABERG and they suprisingly have a great reputation, and do all the racers bikes and whatnot....i just get the feeling that they screw the average joe!!!! will probably have to do it from now on....but, MAN, I'm still pissed though!!!!! Still gonna go there and throw my 6'6--110kg frame around abit!!!! So i can without a doubt hold them responsible, just the fact that the light doesn't work is proof enough that they are tossers!!!!

Worse case SCENARIO, what would a water pump seal cost and how hard will it be install?????

Low cost and easy work. You would have fixed it already with less than a tenth of the energy you spilled on getting the workshop to premiere in the coming South African space program. Good luck!

AAAAAAAAH!!!!!! that's good news! Well anywayz.......When I'm done they'll probably premier in the F***ING NEWS!!!!! and I'll be the creepy guy with a shirt pulled over his head on his way to court!

If you are going to fix it, get an OrangeBerg seal kit. Its working for me so far, about 7 hours, which is 6 hours longer than the standard seal did from new on my 07.

You must get the apprentice. It can't hurt to go back to the shop and give 'em a blast.
At least see if they took the side cover off or whatever. No reason why they should though.
Learn the bike and do the maintenance yourself. Valves are dead easy.
Use the 1/8 turn method that can be found all over this site. Hardest bit is not wrecking the gaskets but even if you do they're only a couple of bucks.

Go and see 'em narkotik - calmly tell them what your grievances are and see what they can do about. Could be just plain bad luck (a record breaking run of it!) - definitley ask for your decomp to be reinstalled. Most shops don't want unhappy customers - bad for business and all that.

If they do not offer reasonable help & explanations then you have my blessing to send a couple of them into the shitmixer............

gawd!!! Just spoke to them, and they said that it could be 1 of 3 things......
1) Water pump seal
2) rings aound the cylinder
3) cracked head

NOW, i told them, that they should just replace the waterpump seal and see if it works.......cause they want to strip the motor.........Am I justified and assuming (and praying) that it is the waterpump seal!?!?!?!?!? and NOT A CRACKED HEAD?!?!?!?!

HAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!! Just spoke to the lady at the store.......she said that when they opened the side, the waterpump seal just fell out, they were that stuffed.....soooooo, not the head or something financially crippling!!!! YEEEEEEEE HAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!!!!! ME HAPPY!!!! ME RIDE THIS WEEKEND!!!!!!! ME FORGET ABOUT THE BLINDING RAGE THAT BLINDED THE BEAST!!!!!!!

Thanks to all for keeping me company in my time of need. :) heheheehhehehehe

Yeah they're a pretty common problem.
Could be just a bad coincidence it failed after it was in the shop.
Did you notice any coolant out the weep hole? If it was that bad it should have been pissin out.
Anyway good to hear you found the problem.
