Hej.
Is Mikuni TM40 flatside ok for a FE 501 -99 or should i go for a Keihin?

there really isn't a choice on this one! keihin FCR. they run them new on them, they're brilliant when set up and we can give you all the help you need and none whatsoever on the mikuni.

RE: Ok

get into ebay and create a worldwide search. there are two or three a week for sale.

I think in Germany this carb is more popular. There are some specialised companies who can support this carb very well. Check out www.mikuni-topham.de. they sell mikuni's ready jetted suitable for your specific bike. Also see www.supermoto-umbauten.de. This is the site of ABP Racing. They are also very experienced with Mikuni carb's. On the German Husaberg forum www.husaberg-forum.de is some talking about jetting of Mikuni's. Only in German of course! A nwe carb for the price of a used Keihin with simmilar performance.

Problem with German.

Better to stay on the Keihin side beacuse i don`t understand the German language so even if they are very "German" on the Mikuni it don`t help me if i get some problems with the carb.
Tried before to make buisness with Germans and it ended with a lot of missunderstandings since they did not wanted to communicate in English.

They probably tought you didn't want to communicate I'n German :D :D

Well, they almost made the whole world speak German! Ha, ha! I'm happy that i'm Dutch so i can speak both languages (sort of..) But no kidding, the Germans are not completely stupid you know. It's a shame that most of them don't share their experience on this forum because they have their own. Which doesn't say i wouldn't like a Keihin on my berg myself. Actualy i do have one, but it is on my LC4 at the moment because it bennefits even more from it than my husaberg. Apart from the difficult starting i can live with the dellorto on my Husaberg for the time being.
