Hi Guys,
I'm a newbee running Michelin Desert 140/80 18" rear with 90/90 21" front with bib mousse in both tires. I bought my 570Fe with them installed. When I ride in the street at over 30-40 mph my front end wobbles kind of weaves which get more pronounced the faster I ride. I really cant make out the weave in the sand (all of the off road riding in Dubai is sand). The guys at the dealership says thats because of the bib mousse. I've been riding street bikes for 20 years on in the dirt for one month.
I'm not sure the weave is because of the mousse.
Any comments? advise? :(
Thanks

Hi,
how long are the mousse already installed on the bike?
maybe they deformed due to bad storage of the bike.
bike long time parked on the same place deform the mousse.
always park the bike for a long periode with both tires clear of the floor.
i am using a set of mousses for 3 years without any problems.

regards,
patrick

As Patrick says a mousse will not last forever you have to relube them quite often.
I run mousse,s and will not travel over 50 mph on the road, road work will kill them, i have had a rear one break up because it over heated, If your only ridding in sand and road i would go back to heavy duty tubes :bounce3:

Check that the mousse has been properly installed and that the rim lock is actually between the tyre bead and the mousse. If it isn't, the tyre won't be seated properly. You should be able to eyeball this by spinning the wheel with the bike on a paddock stand.

I was just wondering what peoples experience of the two are, i know they are both excellent brands and have had Rapha stuff before so i know what to expect.

cute baby onesies

Any thoughts?

Thanks for the input guys. I've decided to pull out the mousse and put in tubes and see how it behaves. If it still weaves I'll know its not the mousse and I can adress the problem.
I'll keep ou guys posted.
Thanks

I ran the Desert with a tube on the front of my KTM 950 Adventure with a high fender kit and it did the same thing. I also had my 2008 Husaberg FE550 do it on the street with a Pirelli MT90. I think it has more to do with the front fender catching the wind and making the bike have a slight headshake......

You have it all wrong mate, goto your manual set all your front and rear clickers to the comp settings in the book and it will stop head shake, you have your suspension settings too soft trust me, I had head shake at 90kph + now i can scrape 140 and its solid. Hope that helps

I know what suspension induced head shake is, this is different. It is not really head shake, more of a wobble. I think it is due to the tread profile of the desert tire and the way the wind hits the high fender.

Definitely not my suspension settings.....

Cool, I didn't consider the suspension setup. I weigh about 190 lbs do you think the standard settings in the user manual will do the trick. Most of my riding is in the desert mostly in sand. I dont really ride hard mostly because I not good enough.
Cheers
