metal bits on the oil filter

I recently had the engine on my '02 fs650 go pop after about 2hrs of riding from when I bought it :-(
Basically the a rocker went through the rocker cover.

Anyway I fitted new '03 rockers, '03 cam, cam chain and rocker cover etc etc.

After the rebuild I rode it for approx 1hr and changed the oil/checked rockers. There was a little metal on the filter but nothing much.

However, I have since done 5hrs of relatively easy riding and changed the oil again to find quite a lot of metal bits on the filter.

Should I be worried or is this the norm and give it another hour or so and check again?

Little metal flakes are very common when changing oil - hence why a magnetic drain plug was added in 03.

Are you getting large size flakes or are they small and fine? If you're getting large sized ones keep a careful eye out, if small and fine you'll find they'll go away after a few oil changes. If you can, make up a little tool with a magnet on the end so that you can put this in the drain hole and get out most of the flakes at oil change time.
