Practiced on saturday in the rain with an Intermediate front and a rear slick....It was on and off so I decided to leave on the rear slick......awsome track, 31 mph avergae speed with a top speed of 74.8 mph. If the track was hot and dry maybe up to 80 mph....ran with what I think was the best gear combo for me 14/46 2 nd and 3rd on most of the track.....stayed in 5th only for a few seconds......16.5" front was unbelievable.. loved it...rear compression was 12 clicks off and 16 off for rebound, front was 2 off compression and 12 off for rebound....unladen sag was 25 mm and laden was 85 mm.....a kart track but not as tight as some....Three bergs were there, a 450, mine and a 650.....My bike ran better than ever but I think its time to check the carb set up, feels abit down at higher rpm's other than that e started cold and fired up easily between heats.....Race was on Sunday so I swapped wheels and chose the rear Pirelli rain, new tire not scrubbed, so first couple turns were kinda gnarly but it broke in fast.....The 450 won the novice class, My best in open intermediate was third (heat race) open vet I got schooled.... oh well still a big learning curve......learned that when the guy in front misses a shift while you are about to overlap his rear its good to have an exit strategy  did a stoppy but kept it together for a pass before the next corner....got lucky, that chainlink fence was getting to be a focal point If ya know what I mean....I think I'm figuring out the suspension, the SM bergs are so sensitive to adjustmenst and body position it s actually kinda a challenge but fun.... I think all the TT track time this past winter really paid off....My starts still suck, I'm going to hook up with a couple speedy friends and practice in a parking lot till my clutch drops out of the case 8O.... my bike as always attracts alot of attention as it has the gear whine which always gets people to walk by and ask what it is.... Had alot of fun..... a mid life crisis is prolly the best time of my life !! someone pass the advill please..... Oh yea the 550 engine is still my favorite....also developed a slow leak looks like its coming from the e-start area and drooling over the engine case where the swing arm goes through.... well enough of my ranting.... another no crash weekend !!!

You're a brave man racing in the rain but it's a good learning experience and a great cure for the midlife crisis blues. There's surprisingly a good amount of wet grip with the proper tires. What tire pressures did you use?

Which direction do you think you need to go on the carb/tuning? Having some dyno hp, tq & a/f graphs should paint a good picture of what to do next.

I've heard rumors that the 07 bike lineup might include a stock FS550E. Better late than never.

18 PSI Both ends, I weigh 245 with gear.....no less or the tire starts to roll at least for me.....when it dries and is damp the fron t goes to 20 and the rear goes to 24, If not I'll cook the rear rain, the front intermediate seems to put up with waaay more abuse....
The more people I talk to about carbs etc the more I'm inclined to get Dale's kit, I know I'm missing HP past mid throttle....Bike feels lean, really need the choke when the engine is cold.....BTW the Berg with my big *** on it will still smoke a new KX and RMZ in a drag.... :D

ha ha ha no blues just glad I started this bike thing when I did.... didn't want to get old and look back with regrets......
