TBM-the brit enduro mag has just done an excellent test of Finn Marko Tarkkala's factory 505cc machine.
they've raised the swingarm pivot point, layed down the rear shock ALA katoom style (i suppose they can now copy the katooms EXACTLY) the bike has a husey sweden factory race cam, same size Ti valves as standard. it says that he wasn't happy with the power of the 470 so they went 505-guess it was all on the bore.
anyway jonty edmunds-the tester- and a top national/international pilot- said the engine was a monster! other changes were an alloy tank of 7.5 litres-yet the factory have failed to narrow the bike down: also the brakes are standard, seat was rock hard and the rear subframe altered (it was lowered at the rear whilst having the taller foam).
crap points? well jonty can't understand how either katoom or husey get decent results with WP!!!! he can't stand them!
mikka enjoys a concrete seat, low bars and advises that it's best to corner sat in the middle of the bike to get the best out of the PDS rear set-up.
the bike also has a different ignition curve allowing another 800 revs should he need it. pipe is standard on the front and middle with an italian Quat-D silencer. gearbox is standard enduro 1 to 5 with the MX 6th speed making it at least usable. it has 'treated' ports, an alloy con-rod, higher pegs and the engine they say is in a new position in the frame. however someone has taken a picture from the side at the perfect angle and i don't think the engine has been 'shifted' at all.
the bike has a Ti rear spring but has a customer frame, yokes and wheels as well as the usual shared stuff with orange.
