Manual Decompressor

I have a 03 FE400E which I fitted a manual decompressor to (it had been removed).I need to know if what I'm experiencing is the norm.My bike has the electric and kickstarter decompressors fitted but will not allow me to pull the decompressor lever when not running. However if I push the starter button and then pull in the lever all works well allowing the bike to turn over easier. Most of my friends have later Husabergs or KTM's and all of them allow the decompressor lever to be pulled in while not running.Anyone ?

go into the doc and look at a modified decmp bar i did. works great. probably under poor starting.

regards

there are points in the engine rotation when the exhaust valve is pushing down that you will have a lot of movement in the manual decomp. you need to set it at tdc to have a couple of mm clearance at the lever. i also like to check to see how far a pull i get with the engine running before it hits the rocker. you don't want it too tight.

Yes ned 37 yes! Early bergs needed a longer arm to overcome valve spring tension,
or one might break small plastic lever. An up grade is possible.
