Hey Guys!My e-start went out on my 98 600.I can start it with the automatic decomp but every once in awhile it doesnt catch and I walk away limping and cussing! Can I put a manual decomp system on it?If so where can I get one?Do I have to disconnect the auto decomp or can I just breeze through it?Thanks! Schultzy

The auto decomp is a seperate mechanism to the manual system so you don't need to disable the auto to add a manual. I wouldn't mind doing similar on a bike same as above if easy. Sure would make roll starting it easier.

you are talking to a man who has been running ONLY the manual decomp for three months now and the jury is still out on it. in those three months the battery has been upgraded to the YTZ7S and just recently the '53' cam. oh! and don't forget that i run the keihin FCR.

i have the manual and if only the friggin starter wouldn't roll through when cold it's good.

when warm i hit the button with the little black plastic lever pulled in about 10mm and then as the engine gets rolling i dump it-no timing because the engine hits it and either dies, starts or the friggin starter runs through. infact when riding and i stall or i've only been - tell you what-stopped for a chat on tuesday with a farmer for 10 minutes and didn't even touch the decomp to start it and off she went!

it's the starting from cold (even in the summer) though that knackers it.

no idea about a kickstart and manual decomp combined though. go look at my gallery for how i modded the decomp arm and yes it really was a good idea and it works (the mod to the arm that is!).
