OK here is the first big hurdle for the 1989-2003s

we can get over most things but this one is a killer....

there are no more cam follower bearings available fort these models. I've run out of CFBs already. we need a new supplier and fast!

if any of you can help by getting inside the manufacturers supply network that would be great....

just a reminder
pre 2004s are 7.8mm pins
2004+ are 7.6mm pins so the above will fall through the hole.

KTM have been told how serious this is but won't get another stock in.

Haven't you tried to change the arms so you can fit the 7,6 mm ?
I don't think it will be extremely difficult, You just will add so more weight to the arms.

Will the rest of the follower be ok for the pre 04 ?

The bearings are a commercialy available part. I used to get them for $20 each Australian, but haven't bought them for ages so I need to check my numbers. The pin is the issue and you have to buy a length of stock and have the pins cut to length.

so I trust that the 7.6 could be imperial and the 7.8 could be metric (or vice versa!)

any info would be gratefully received!

I've great news!

I have found a new source for these bearings and they are now back in stock.

they aren't from KTM at all but they are identical and ready to go.

I'm also able to reduce the price to 30gbp from 32.50gbp.

Thanks Taffy for being dedicated to the older generation Husabergs to keep them running.

well when you find something and you get it at half the price you have two choices on what to do..........

don't forget, when you find these things there is no way of knowing if you'll pay a a pound, ten pounds or a hundred pounds!

What do these look like? Got a pic or parts fiche number? Sounds like something that can be 3D-printed.

Here's an overview of the materials that the 3D printing service Shapeways can work with: http://www.shapeways.com/materials

If you select Strength: High, the options are "Strong & Flexible Plastic", "Steel" (bronze-infused steel actually), "Sterling Silver", "Brass", "Bronze", and "Elasto Plastic". I'm sure one of these will hold the shape of an oil drain bung well enough to make do with.

Shapeways themselves could probably answer if one of their materials are suitable. Then it's a question of drawing up the part in a 3D CAD program, determining if it needs any machining after 3D printing (e.g. screw threads), and trying it out ...

I appreciate the help but the appeal was for anything similar that already exists? gearbox (transmission) filler bungs used to always be large so you could get the filler nozzle in.

anybody want to check gearbox stuff, mind you it needs a hole down the middle so.............
