Can anyone please help. I'm looking to move from a road bike to a super moto. The problem is I love the look of the Husaberg over any other bike however i have heard they are a nightmare to maintain and need regular oil changes etc. The bike i'm looking at is the sm 550 can anyone point me in the right direction to how often i need to change the oil and any other maintenance musts. Many thanks Waz

Hi Waz,

Welcome to the UHE, people used to say the same to me when i bought a Ducati and after 28000 miles didn't cost me a bean, it's like any else treat it well and it will treat you the same.
Feed it on quality oil Silkolene PRO4 if you can get it, keep an eye on the valve clearances and don't over rev it should treat you well.
This just my opinion you will probably get a good few more.

Regards

Sparks.

Thanks

Cheers Sparks for the fast reply and good advice i will take it on board. Time to get myself a super moto I think. No doubt will speak again.
Thanks Waz

RE: Thanks

Waz

did you mean a SM for the road or for the track?

let you know more when you tell us a bit more!

they're relaible and as we always say: even if they were to let go, we know when they'll let go, why, and how to prevent it!

Taffy

Its for the road mate. I'm just trying to find out if they're reliable and how much maintainance will be required and what type of maintainance i will have to do as i'm not the greatest mechanically.

others will have to reply to this one waz. i don't have any personal history of road use.

regards

Taffy

Hello Waz,

Other than riding it on the road, what kind of riding do you plan to do?

Motorways/dual carriageway riding (I really hope not  )
A road and even better B road blasts?
Commuting - long or short distances?
As an "urban bike to run around on?
touring around - long or short journeys?

This will really have a lot to do with how the bike lasts.

What year bike are you thinking of buying because that will also have a lot to do with the decision.

Let us know.

Cheers,
Simon
