On a 2000 FC501, how often should I change the oil and have the vavles checked? What are the warning signs that the vavles need to be adjusted?
Took my bike out to one of the local mx tracks (E-srteet in Marysville, Ca). I was the only Berg and a couple KTM's.

oil

Oil= 7-10 h
Valves=20-30h
All depending on the way you drive, high revs, oil, temperature and so on....

RE: oil

Thanks for the informaition Jampe. It seems like these Berg's are a bit higher mantenance than the Japanese bikes and you really need to check the oil after every ride. I'm still learning.

RE: oil

Daniel, Is your bike easy to start ? If it is then all adjustments are good. If you notice that you need a few more kicks to get going this can be the start of valves coming out of adjustment. If you start feeling like you have carburetor issues, you need to check the stator. If you feel like you are getting down on power, check valves, if they are good check stator. the SEM is famous for failing, but it never just goes it fails slowly, hence it feels like carb problems.

RE: oil

Thanks for the info Ron,
My bike is easy to start, most of the times 1-3 good kicks cold. Only one time was it hard to start cold and it was flooded (ended up starting without the choke). I might be a bit paraniod with the Husaberg, always listening and looking for problems. Otherwise the bike is great fun and looking forward to taking her out again this weekend (this will be my third weekend in a row).
