Maintaining the SEM?

I have a problem after riding and washing my FC550 -03, some water gets trapped inside at stator and flywheel.
Have tried with silicone sealing on cover but got water inside anyway. So i unbolt the cover and dry everything after washing, but is there an easier way? How have you guys solved this problem?

I coated mine with petroleum jelly and drilled a hole in the cases below the stator ... It is in the owners documents. Seems to work as any time I've opened mine it is dry and no rust.

Hi

Kris650 makes one paper gasket that works fine, but when I wash the bike it seems that some water always goes in. So what I do is, I open the cover every time I wash the bike .. witch is 99% of the times I ride it.

And yes you should also coat the stator with something to prevent rust

Use Wurth sealant (Black), if applied correctly guarantee nothing will get in.

Sparks.

Thanks for your tips, the water probably came in where the wires goes thrue... But today the SEM decided to quit on me... No spark and when measuring i have no ohm between red and black wire. 168 ohm between green and black, so my guess is that it done for... Its a Fc model so its the small sem without lightning coils. However i did find an old SEM with light coils, but i get some strange readings... Green to black 170 ohm , red to black 90kohm...
Had to try so i mounted it and now i get sparks again, but dare i use this stator or will i burn the cdi?
Whish i would have got that water fixed earlier... :cuss:

I have a sparks rewounded FC stator for sale, 100euro's.
Unused and in perfect condition.

Hi all

ElSonoro is making you a great deal, but please check first your flywheel.

I have one of those stators, that I call half stator :D , but it works with a half flywheel :D
So check first if the flywheel that have.
