Hi
Anybody got any idea of the cost of the main bearing replacement on a 2002 fs650 if done at the dealers as mine has just gone
thanks

that's a strange way of putting the question?

you mean: "what is the cost of a rebuild doing only the mains and walking past anything else you see out of blind obedience to the customer's wishes".

I don't think you can get a price for that? I don't think you can get a dealer to DO it!

mains cost 90gbp for two balls and 110gbp for two rollers. a rebuild here is 300gbp.

if the dealer is doing the work he can charge whatever he wants and replace whatever he sees fit, that could be a lot on an 02

a bare minimum parts list would be a headgasket, cam chain 4-5 seals maybe a water pump bearing but you'd be mad not to freshen up as much as possible

NTN roller mains are $65 each

short version of mains story is that crank axial play must be set large enough to prevent failure.

Yeah, the big money is in the labor to get there. Since you've already paid for the "R&R" by that point, you may as well spend a bit more to fix, well, everything or at least check all the tolerances.
