I sent the crank to a workshop to get a new bushing in the small-end. After that repair I just smacked everything together, without checking the axial clearance. On my way idling through the paddock, for the 2nd qualifying practice, the engine seized. The right main bearing was in pieces. I replaced that bearing and cleaned everything up as good as possible. When assembling I found that when tightening the bolts for the casing, the crank was jammed! As there was no time to find the real primary cause, I ground off 0,6mm from the inner race for the left main bearing. This resulted, at least, in free play. 4 hours after the engine siezed, the race started. On the 4th lap the engine made noise and I pulled over. Balancer and main bearings were broken.
Sorry about the long story, but as you have realized by now, I´m looking for ammo when speaking to the workshop. The shop claims not to have split the crank when replacing the bushing...
