Does anyone know if an bottle of Magura blood (brake fluid) that's been open is OK to use later ? I know brake fluid Dot 3,4,5 when open shouldn't be used later.

Magura Blood is nothing like brake fluid, and is in no way interchangeable with any type of brake fluid. It can be used after it is open as it does not absorb water. Magura Blood is fancy overpriced hydraulic oil. KTM/Husaberg refers to is as "mineral oil" and has it stamped on all their Magura clutch master cylinders. Basically "mineral oil only" is Austrian for "don't use brake fluid". Later bikes use Brembo clutch master cylinders and they use brake fluid, not mineral oil. Lots of different fluids can replace Magura Blood, and it has been beaten to death if you care to search that. I don't want to be responsible for starting yet another thread on alternatives to Magura Blood!

while also being Hydroscopic I wouldn't think it is of importance. the brake fluid hasd a safety issue involved that is why people get anal about it. as for mineral oil, you'll be just fine!

If you have a leak in the orings of the piston, you will be injecting DOT4 in to your engine oil  that's not good;)

Mineral oil not a problem

I have a bottle of Magura Blood that I bought a while ago for my 1986 Husky and F the front brake with it (lesson learn) couldn't throw it out so being cheap in this case was good.

Good point. The rubber seals in the Magura master cylinder don't get along very well with brake fluid either. I have rebuilt a couple because of that.

Lightweight fork oil works really good as a Magura fluid replacement too, either 5 wt or 2.5 wt.

I buy it from the pushbike shop, I bring a little clean dry bottle and they pour me some from a jug for a few bucks.
Shimano hydraulic oil, it's what they use in mtb brakes.
