Lowering the subframe

I see that Mikst has lowered the subframe of his 'berg to enhance the ergos of the bike. I too, would prefer to have a lowered rearend on my bike for increase manueverability. The bike always has the feeling that I'm going downhill when I'm setting on the seat, even with the tall seat. So Mikst, or anyone else, do you have the amount that you modified your steed. How much was cut out? Did you modify the exhaust as well? Does the seat still line up with the tank?

That’s a good question. I will do some measurements when I get close to the bike. It’s the original seat and nothing is done to the exhaust system either. You can see that the seat doesn’t follow as it should but it works without any problem. The seat looks a little bent when you know about it. I think the bike looks quite normal on the photo in the gallery.
The rear end is just bent down a little. Can anyone with a newer bike, 03-> do some measurements too?
I got that downhill feeling too but I rarely sit as far back as that. I am only 1.75 so I hardly reach the ground when I sit in the lowest point.

I saw the factory team do this also by cutting a piece (I don't know how long) between the small tube that goes from the subframe and is welded on the main frame. It is then just pushed together and welded. I didn't want to do this as you see a weld in the middle of a tube and in full sight. If I were to do this I would cut it off where it has been welded to the main frame and reweld it on the same place. Although with the heat brought in again at this point I don't know if it keeps the same strenght.

It's odd, that at 6'-1" tall with a 36" inseam that I would notice this, but when I hop on a Husky or Yamaha (or any other non 'berg or KTM), I feel like I'm on a mini bike because they are so manueverable and I don't smack my butt down on the rear fender when I get out of shape. Honestly, the rear fender feels like it is 3 or 4 inches higher. Yea, I'm being picky, but I want to set my 'berg up perfect for me, so much of the bike is spot-on, it just takes some fine tuning (time and $$$$).

H is measured between the centre line of the pipes. L is measured from weld to weld with the folding rule placed on the lower pipe.

On the right hand the values are:H = 210 mm and L = 380 mm.
On the left hand the values are:H = 130 mm and L = 330 mm.

This has worked for two seasons without any problem. It's the original seat and exhaust system. This is almost identical with the -03 frame I believe.
