RE: Re: RE: Lowering Suspension - Yes/No???
yes, removed all electrics including starter motor and carb/tank cut off mount with those real thin cutoff discs welded back on, "borrowed" the 2 silly numberplate tangs from the rear and beefed it up a bit.
for the headstock I used an old frame cut its headstock off with 2" of frame on it and stuck it on where my headstock used to be. put lots of patches over the butt joins, I got a bit carried away with strength and it came out 1kg more than I wanted. the rake is 1degree steeper than stock.
noticed both frames were bent the same way. strange hberg welding jig? and the wheels on my bike were 20mm out of line when I put it back together I made it special bushie style wonky (read dead straight) so my wheels can be in line and in the centre of the swingarm and forks.
needed to pay particular attention to repainting the inside of the airbox in both cases
ive not seen an old frame so i have no idea about the wheel and the frame, i think on the old bikes it hits the header first?
50mm may be too much for some guys, I run a 150/90 rear with 16paddle scat trac dominator so the axle is all the way back. factory racers did 25 and 30mm.
As for the top shock mount, did you cut it off and weld it back on higher up?
