Is it possible to use the first gear from a Wide-ratio gearbox 1997 - 2000 engine in my 2004 650 engine?

Wide-ratio gearbox 1997 - 2000 engine first gear 13-34
stock 04 650 first gear is 14-33

Even if it was possible, which is unlikely, swapping gears would create a much larger 'gap' between 1st and 2nd which could be rather unpleasant.

The Wide-ratio gearbox 1997 - 2000 available on the FE enduro models
has a lower first and the same ratio second gear as the 2001-2008 motor.

larger gap is not an issue to me. I need lower first gear for the slow going.
And i do not want to change the gearing as it gives a comfortable cruise at
90 -100 km in 6th which i don't want to lose.

oddly enough the first gear is part of the shaft. so whether it is the WR 13 or the std 14 or the MX 15 they all come as part of the shaft. so your next problem is that the clutch won't fit.

see your problem ISN'T the gearbox after all!
