Low beam burning fuse 2011 570

I had a lot of electrical troubles so I went through the whole wiring system finding 2 bare wires touching the frame and a couple smashed wires. I fixed all of these but now when I turn the bike on, it is fine with high beams on but when I switch to low beams, I blow either fuse 3 or 5 or both. This is maddening! Anyone have this issue?

if i disconnect the green wire to bulb the fuse doesn't blow. I can use the switch with no problem of course. if I disconnect the blue wire and put it on the bulb where the green wire was it blows. Bad bulb?

I had my F3 fuse blow on my 2011 Husaberg FE570S 8 or 9 days ago. The headlights and tail light quit working. The blinkers and brake light continued to work. When I unplugged the headlight socket (high-low beam bulb), the fuse F3 stopped blowing out.

The bulb was drawing too much current; essentially, it was shorted! I had never seen a bulb become a short, but that was what happened. I replaced the headlight high-low beam bulb and that took care of the problem. The bulb measured only a few Ohms with a multi-meter across it. I could also see that the square element across the top of the bulb was melted. The bulb was about $9.00.

Be sure to look for chafed wires behind the headlight mask and that the wires to the headlight are routed logically.

Hope your problem is this easy.

Thanks skip. I've determined the same thing. The bulb is not visibly melted. I will disconnect the low beam wire for now to get through this weekend.

Wow, perfect timing for this thread. I've had this problem since 5 hours on the bike (now 30) and was just too lazy to dig into the problem deeper than just checking the harness for rub marks and pinched wires (which I had none). Will give a new bulb a shot.

Thanks guys.

Had the same thing happen to my 2011, bad bulb. They must have supplied us with some cheap bulbs.

Just happened to me on my 2011 fs 570. Fuses 3 & 5 were blowing. Unplugged the headlamp and no more fuses blown. Put the bulb in from my 2010 450 exc and good to go. Fingers are crossed that a bad bulb is all it was, had the tank off twice looking for bad wires. Getting a bulb this week. Thank God for this forum.

FWIW, my low beam on my '12 KTM 350 EXC-F just burned out at low miles as well.
No fuses were harmed.

Bad bulbs, eh?

BTW, the bulb on my '10 FE 390 is still going strong after 2400 miles. Go figure. lol

Hi mate had the same prob I traced out the whole wiring harness and found a short under the seat but the circuit was still a dead short on fuse 3. Found that the bulb socket traps water shorting out the bulb which blows the bulb base and also blows fuse 3. When cleaning spray the shocket with contact cleaner before starting the bike, the parking light has shorted before ob me also due to water in the socket. Since drying out the bulb sockets I havnt blown one since after blowing 5 in a year

Thank you, sir! - ET

Similar problem with my 2011 FE570. No fuses blown that I am aware of, low beam works fine but when I switch to high beam the big bulb goes out entirely.

Bulb issue? Switch issue (the high beam indicator comes on)? Fuse/wiring issue?

Any upgrades on bulb recommended?

Thanks,
mikec
