Lost all power

After quickly installing a new battery I have lost all power. Blinkers dont work, dash is gone and starter shows no signs of life.

I didnt "properly" tighten all the battery connections, just enough that they wont fall off. Once I tried to start it I heard a click coming from the battery/fuse/starter area and now the bike is officially fully dead. Checked the fuses and they seem to be okay.

Wiring, connections all electric stuff is very foreign to me and I have no idea what's wrong.

My older battery read "12V/6 ah/95A" and the new one reads "12V/3 ah/50 or 60A". I feel like even though the new battery isn't the same their shouldnt be any problems with it, nothing that would break anything.

The old battery has a starting current of 95 amps (95A X 12V = 1.1KW), the new one has a starting current of 50 or 60 amps (55A X 12V = 0.66 KW). I think the problem is the ampere. Did you charge the new battery anyway? Could it be discharged?

Yeah I charged the new battery and before I put it in it had 14V which shouldnt be too much, right?

I would check those fuses again. Especially the fuse on the start relay itself. Unless you disturbed a ground, or have shaky wiring, if all the fuses are good the bike should at least crank over, even if it won’t start.

If all is good on the back of the bike, , you’ll have to switch to behind the headlight and pay attention to where the harness wraps around the frame near the headstock.

If the front of the bike is good, I would check power to the starter motor itself when the button is engaged. As big of a coincidence that it would be, having a starter motor fail, stranger things have happened.

I was mistakenly assuming your bike is 70 degree engine bike. If not, my apologies, but the diagnostic process will be very similar for both versions of Bergs.

Thanks for the advice. I put the old battery back in and now all lights, blinkers etc work perfectly.
