Loosing Clutch Oil

I have a 2011 FE 570S. I lost the clutch action recently and discovered that the oil level was low in the reservoir. I have refilled it about three or four times, but cannot figure out where the leak is. I'm not picking up much dust on the reservoir. The cap rubber looks intact. Today I pulled the clutch lever off and removed the actuating rod and boot. It appeared dry with no leaks. Also checked the hose attachment and no leak there either. Is it possible to have a leak at the slave cylinder and not see oil leaking on to the engine case? Can the slave cylinder leak and the oil run into the engine down the clutch rod tunnel? Thanks for any advice.

Hi

Yes it's a bit strange (very recent bike) but it's possible. In that case it's just a couple of o-rings to replace, very easy.

This one of the reasons to not use dot4 in this system, like some still use. The mineral oil that went in to your engine will not cause any problem, I couldn't say the same if it was dot 4.

I've been using for a long time ATF oil, it's cheap, and it works perfectly

If it is not visibly leaking on the outside of the slave cylinder, then it is leaking past the oring into your engine.

Some of us use fork oil, ~5wt, with good result.
