Ummm....not unless you have one sitting in your garage :D . Too much BS and engineering to remind me of anything I would own presently :D Still...not bad for a KTM

Wow, what a beautiful engine. Kind of reminds me of one of those Husaberg motors....... even has the kicker on the same side 8O !

Regards,

Doesn't the LC4 motor date back as far or
farther than the Husaberg motor? I thought
it came out while Husqvarna was still Swedish.

Besides the fact that it's a left-side drive and the look of the clutch cover, I don't see much more similiarities that are not to be expected in a single 4-stroke.

Can somebody explain me how the starter motor connects to the engine? It seems to be flip-flopped, and that would be the end of the similarities.

Tim: I don't think that KTM came out with the LC4 until 97.

The KTM "LC4" has been around for well over a decade. Early to mid nineties if memory serves.

For the record:
Husaberg Sweden approached "Cross Holding" / KTM Austria with regard to purchasing their failing company. KTM did not "****" Husaberg. It is no secret that I am not a big fan of KTM and / or Husaberg corporate politics, however, a KTM "witch Hunt" is really not in order. Truth be told, without KTM, Husaberg most likely would not exist today.

Kind Regards,
Dale

PS
The engine in question resembles the original "LC4" more then that of any Husaberg.

Some what butchered. A mid 90's LC4. This particular one was 600cc. The engine weighed around 90-100 pounds, FYI. This is why we used it. With a 18mm restrictor, we were able to push around 75-80hp at the wheels.

Hi Luke,
The infamous "college based Formula SAE program" I presume?

18mm inlet restriction with a minimum of one atmosphere "forced induction" .

Every year I receive no fewer than a dozen phone calls regarding high performance singles for said application.

Most often "I have no money as I am a student" is slipped into the conversation. :D

Kind Regards,
Dale

Yes, the very same organization.

18mm restrictor must be located immediately after the throttle body. Also used for methanol. 20mm restrictor with gas.

The new bergs would be perfect for this. Lightweight, small, powerful. One major problem is that the new jap engines are pushing LOTS of hp. I, like you with Flattrack, am extremely passionate about this topic. But, food just got to me, so I will shut up and eat....

"I am a racer and therefore have no money" is yet another familiar quote. :)

Kind Regards,
Dale

The funny thing about what these guys tell you is that it isn't even their money. The schools supply the loot, plus sponsership from the outside. Granted, I'm sure some teams put in their own cash, but in general, it's the schools money. It's a fantastic thing. I learned more about being an engineer in that club than I have in the same time being in industry.

Anyway, not to hijack this topic. Out of curiosity, what is the weight and HP of this new LC4? I could imagine it's gotten lighter.

Side note: after drinking until 4am the last 2 nights, my brain is finding it is VERY difficult to put together a sentence....

I got an article that came off the web with pic here of a turbo'd 600 'berg motor in one of those SAE racers.
