Look what Husaberg started.

Even though Husaberg was the first to debut this idea in a production dirtbike, the mass centralization idea has been a big theme in MotoGP, in which Kawasaki and most of the other big manufacturers participate in.

I'd imagine all the manufacturers will jump on the bandwagon sooner than later.
