Long stroke vs short stroke 650 ID

I've got a 2005 650, but it might be manufactured in 2004.
I know I could measure the stroke, but a bit difficult to measure 2mm difference when it's all in bits.

The crank pin is 35mm.

What have I got??

The one on the left is the 32mm big end 644cc crank, one on the right is the later model "pork chop" crank with the 35mm big end pin which is the shorter stroke 628cc. Very easy to identify just by the shape of the crank

2004 but the currrent part number starts in 2005

If I recall correctly there is a transition crank with the full circle webs like yours that also has a 35mm pin and an 80mm stroke

looks like you have an ELKO piston 24.5mm from pin center to top so its probably an 80mm crank.

if you have a kokusan ignition its also likely to be the feminine 80mm stroke just with big chunky thighs

this is the more common version of the 82mm stroke 32mm pin crank

so are there are 2 kinds of 80mm /35mm cranks ? (full circle and pork chop) I thought there was only 1

definately 2 kinds of 82mm / 32mm cranks ( both full circle but most of them have the lightening holes drilled in)

35mm pin = 80mm stroke
32mm pin = 82mm stroke

Is this of any help?

You were right about the piston :)

the 2001-3 644 with 82mm stroke has a fully circular pair of flywheels and a 32mm big end with two big balancer holes near the big end.

the 2004 644 with 82mm stroke has fully circular flywheels TO LOOK AT FROM THE OUTSIDE with NO BALANCER HOLES, however, look from the ends and you can see that it is pork chop on the inside half of each flywheel. it has a 32mm big end still.

the 2005-8 628 has a pork chop crank with a 35mm big end.

so vegard are you still sure its a 35mm pin ?

35mm pin = 80mm stroke

32mm pin = 82

kokusan + 32mm pin = 2004 82mm stroke
